One surprising piece of advice we got before buying our farm “find the dump.”
Another surprise, we found one on almost every property we considered. In no time, surprise turned disdain for the unknown dumpers.
Today, a broken down car sits next to our barn. Three years, the car hasn't moved. If it's not productive or useful, and it's not in the way — ignore it.
Prioritization for productivity is a dead canary. Priorities will bury deeper than any dump ever could.
The farmers didn't make those dumps. But whether they did or not, they're ours.
For now, the car is a rodent hotel and reminder — make less waste.
where is that car? I thought you were talking about your own car in front of the barn!
I read that west Virginia finally decided to clean up its image and remove all the abandoned cars up on blocks that are everywhere. Now, my numbers aren't exactly right, but they budgeted for 200,000 old cars. When they were done, they found there were 2 million abandoned cars in that poor state!
